Fitness Continuum to help you select your mousetrap
A Fitness Continuum is a spectrum of workout forms ranging from optimum fitness at one end and risk of injury at the other.
The best form is having a Personal Trainer, something I recently experienced at Manila. At the other end is, (surprise surprise!) working out with a friend. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, research has shown that doing a new workout with a friend increases the risk of injury.
Pick what suits you best and stay trapped with discipline as results come with consistency.
Personal Trainer: Get individual attention, tailored programs, and real-time feedback, leading to optimal results.
Group Exercise: Led by qualified instructors, these classes offer structured routines and foster a sense of community, enhancing motivation and adherence.
Team Sport: The only workout you can be consistent in is one you have fun with, and few can match team sport for this. Though adrenaline rushes can cause injury.
Individual Exercise: Can be guided, where utilizing technology, trainers supervise workouts remotely. Can also be done independently, gym or home, but going solo can sometimes lead to injury.
Workout with a Friend: Multiple research projects have shown that working out with a friend has high incidences of injury, thanks to a heady cocktail of peer pressure and non-professional guidance.
